1.Where
can I find user ID?
User ID is something
like "L94745762" or "845638450",
you can find it at
A.Welcome screen: Figure 1.1 shows the welcome screen
of DataKeeper.
(Figure 1.1, Welcome screen)
B.About screen:
shown as Figure 1.2. To open About screen, you need select
"About" menu from "Options" menu bar.

(Figure 1.2, About screen and Options menu)
C.Register screen:
shown as Figure 1.3.

(Figure 1.3, Register screen)
2.
How can I register my software?
Registration code
is something like L3847174932 - 847436528. Once you
receive the registration code, you can use the code to register
your software. At Register screen (Figure 2.1), input your
registration code and then tap OK button. If the registration
code contains letter L, you must input it as a big L.
(Figure 2.1, Register software)
- To open the Register screen,
you can Tap on Register button at Welcome screen (Figure
2.2)
(Figure 2.2, Welcome screen)
- Tap on Register button
at About screen (Figure 2.3)

Am I correct that once you create a data type you also have
to create a category to match each data type? Data types
and categories are actually the same thing; you just have
to create categories to get your data types to show up on
the pull down menu at top-right of the screen.
Yes, data type and
categories are quite the same in some sense. The software
will automatically search if a category with the same name
as the data type exists, if such category exists, the record
will be set to be that category. Data type is
one way you can manage your data, you can set up the default
field labels for the data type. Category is
the other way you can manage your data. Suppose you
have data types like computer account, bank account, website
account, you may create a category called "Account"
and you can set all of records from computer account, bank
account etc. into Account category. In addition, PalmOS
only limits category to maximum 15. That's why I create
data type and let users use both category and data type
to manage their records.
4.
Is there a way to get the field types to "stick"
to a category/data type so that when you create a new record
you don't have to recreate the fields for each and every record?
Granted, it only requires a choice from a popup list,
but it seems tedious.
Yes. For a given
data type, you need set default field labels for it.
Otherwise when you create a new record, all field will show
as "Other". To set up default field labels
for a data type, go to menu "Options", select
"Change field label" menu item. In the screen
showed up, select the data type from the popup list, and
then select field label for each field.

Am I correct - there is no screen matching the one in DataKeeper
with the check boxes to indicate which type of new record
you are creating? You choose from the pulldown at the upper
right?
Not exactly.
When you want to create a new record, you tap on the "New"
button, it leads you to a screen called "Choose data
type", there is only one check box there, all of you
data type you created will show up in the popup list.
This screen is similar to the screen you mentioned in DataKeeper.
Since DataKeeper32 has no built-in data types, and I do
not know what and how many data types you will create in
advance, so I use one check box to include all data types
you created.
