Surprise Greeting™ is a Palm OS software to allow you design, deliver and display greeting cards (see Fig. 1 for sample greeting cards). The greeting cards will show up at the time you specified. To design a greeting card, first you need to input your greeting message, design the greeting layout (text position and flower position) and setup greeting show up date and time, and then deliver your greeting card to him/her.

There are three ways to deliver your greeting cards. One, send greeting application and database files (greeting.prc and greetingDB.pdb) to him/her and let him/her to install both files into his/her Palm device; Two, directly beam greeting application and database to him/her; Three, get his/her Palm device, install or beam greeting.prc into his/her Palm, design greeting card and set greeting card shown up on his/her Palm device.

2. Setup Greeting Card

Four steps to setup a greeting card:

1. Input greeting messages. You can input up to three greeting messages.

2. Setup greeting show up date, time and interval. If you input more than one greeting messages (up to 3), you need to provide an interval between greetings. The default interval is one hour (see Fig.2).

3. Design greeting card's layout (see Fig. 3).

4. Specify how to deliver greeting card. From "Option" menu, select "Deliver settings" to open "Deliver settings" screen (see Fig. 4)

3. Deliver Greeting Card

There are three ways to deliver your greeting cards, one directly way and two indirect ways. Direct way: greeting card is set and shown on the same Palm device; Indirect ways: greeting card is set on your device and delivered to a different device.

• 1. Direct Way:
  Greeting card is set to show on the same device. You need to select "Shown up on this device" item from "Deliver settings" screen (see Fig. 4). After you finish the greeting card design, you need to tap "Done" button activate greeting card and hide Greeting application. Your greeting will show up on the date and time you specified.
  
  Once you hide Greeting application, you will no longer be able to access it. If you want to make any changes, you need to reinstall Greeting application.

  You can directly install Greeting.prc file into the device where you want to set a greeting card. Or you can beam Greeting.prc from your device. To beam Greeting.prc, please tap "Menu" button at left-bottom corner, then select "Beam …", find Greeting application and beam it.
  

• 2. Beam your greeting card:
  After you finish greeting card's design and settings, tap "Done" button to enable "Beam" button. Then you can start to beam your greeting card. Your greeting card will show up on the date and time you specified at receiver's Palm device.

• 3. Send your greeting card by email:
  Tap "Done" button to finish greeting card's design and settings, do a hotsync with your PC. Then go to PC to find out the greeting card's database, GreetingDB.pdb. You can find the database under Palm desktop folder, for example, C:\Palm\(your user name)\backup\GreetingDB.pdb.

  Send GreetingDB.pdb and Greeting.prc files to him/her and let him/her to install both files into his/her Palm device. Your greeting will show up on the date and time you specified at his/her Palm device.
  

• My Palm is not a color Palm, can I still use this software?
  Yes, you can use a B&W Palm design and deliver greeting cards. But for best effect, receiver's Palm must be a color Palm. This software supports hi-resolution.

• How can I directly setup a greeting card on his/her Palm?
  You can directly install the software (greeting.prc) into his/her Palm. But this is not a feasible way. Better way is installing the software into your own Palm and then beam the software (greeting.prc) to his/her Palm using Palm built-in beaming feature (From "App" menu, select "Beam …"). When you setup your greeting card, you need to set the Deliver settings to be "Shown up on this device" (See Fig. 4), otherwise your greeting card will not show up.

• Do I need to tap Done button before I deliver my greeting cards?
  You have to tap Done button whenever you change any settings.

• How can I deliver my greeting cards via email?
  Tap Done button to finish your greeting card design, then do a hotsync. After a hotsync, your greeting card's database, GreetingDB.PDB, will be synced into PC under your Palm desktop's backup folder. Attach Greeting.prc and GreetingDB.pdb with your email and let him/her to install both files into his/her Palm device. Your greeting card will show up at the time you specified on receiver's Palm.

• How can I beam my greeting cards?
  Tap Done button to finish your greeting card design. After you successfully finish greeting card's design, "Beam" button will show up. Tap "Beam" button to beam your greeting card to receiver. Your greeting card will show up at the time you specified on receiver's Palm.

• How can I register this software?
